Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis” @ Edmonton’s Fringe Festival
by John Calverley on Aug.10, 2010, under Recent Projects and News
Make the Westbury Theatre at the TransAlta Arts Barns (10330 84 Avenue) one of your stops for this years Fringe. Composer Andrew Creaghan & The Collegium Musicum present a world premiere chamber opera version of Kafka’s classic tale “The Metamorphosis”. 8 musicians and 4 singers under the baton of Don Ross tell the crazy story of a young man who transforms overnight into a beetlelike insect. It is a harrowing and absurdly comic study on the quintessentially alienated man of modern society.
